Lovely. You captured a reflective moment. Love the serape and hat and understand how difficult it is to get face details under such a wide brim. But I think I like the horizontal framing of the thumbnail better. Even though some of the hat is cut off, or because of it, you feel more of a sense of the hat...and the essence of the reflective moment is stronger. Just my opinion. Everyone has one. Love it either way.
it seems you had a very fruitful day at the parade... try out adding just a little bit of yellow to kill the blue cast. The picture of the girl in green dress also needed to reduce the blue cast that generally adds while in similar situations.
